The other day I was having a bit of a rushed morning.  It wasn’t that I was running short on time, just anticipating the “too many” things calling to be done for the day ahead and I was trying to move fast.  Only 7:30 in the morning, I was already feeling a lack of energy.

I dropped my son off at preschool and was headed home when the traffic in front of me slowed to a near stop.  (I still don’t know what it was all about.)  When I looked to my left, I saw an old gray barn.  What is it about old barns that always draw my attention?

The strange part was I had never noticed this barn before.  It was a little dilapidated, but still holding its structure.  There was a rusty black jeep parked halfway out of the wide door.  And on that jeep, was a cute orange cat sitting on the hood.  Only a foot away from the orange cat, my eyes caught glimpse of a sweet-looking gray cat quietly blending in to his environment. They were just basking in the warm morning sun, probably enjoying the heat of a sun-beaten black car.  Resting, relaxing and at peace.

Had I been going my normal 55 mph (or should it be 45 mph?), I would have missed the entire scene.  It is a great reminder that if we are moving too fast, if we are too busy in life, we may miss the sweet scenes and special moments.

Thank you, Lord, for causing us to slow down at times and catch something sweet.
