Gum Paste/Fondant Flowers from
my Wilton Cake Decorating Class

One thing my mom instilled in me growing up is a love of learning.  I have always enjoyed trying new things, taking classes or acquiring a new skill.

I laugh when I think of the eclectic assortment of the classes I have taken:  Sign Language, Floral Design, Cake Decorating, Photography, Pottery, Seminary classes, Women’s Bible Studies and others.  The Bible studies have been especially great for spiritual growth, fellowship and accountability.  For the other classes, most have been for pure enjoyment and the love of learning something new.

So finally, life is at the point that I can return for the Level 2 Wilton Cake Decorating class.  And while it only adds to the busyness of my month, I am enjoying it greatly.

Loved making most of these…roses, not so much.

Fall is almost here.  School is back in session.  Is there something you have been wanting to learn?  A new skill?  A hobby you want to try?  What is keeping you from it?  If you are a mom with little ones under foot, a class is a nice break and a chance to do something for you.  I am grateful for my husband who is giving me the opportunity.

Next thing to learn on my list:  Sewing!  I would like to be able to do a few basic things on a sewing machine.

What is something you would like to learn?  I’d love to hear!

My awful pansies.  Practice definitely needed!
